Challenge: Senior executives of a large manufacturing company needed their organization to increase both the effectiveness and efficiency of their discovery and development operations.
Solution: We designed and led a systems assessment process to identify areas where the company could significantly increase their capacity and effectiveness in identifying and developing new product technologies. We then guided executives through evaluating alternatives, enabling them to identify the option that best supported their objectives.
Results: The new approach enabled the company to increase their screening capacity and predictability tenfold and identify promising new technologies in a fraction of the time they had previously experienced. In addition, they were able to employ the new methodologies across several additional product lines, reducing development cycle time by as much as half, resulting in a more than a fortyfold return on investment.
