Twelve Problems Caused By "Hidden Roadblocks"
Place a check mark by any of
the problems that persistently exist in your
organization:
-
Repeated deviations from forecasts
Frequent organizational “fires”
Lack of innovation and creativity
Slowness in developing new products/services
High levels of conflict
Accounting inconsistencies
Poor quality
Unusually high employee turnover
Resistance to teamwork
Low or stagnant sales
Unusually low customer retention
Other (be specific)
Interpretation:
If you have more than four of these problems, or if a particular problem is unusually stubborn, ask questions to see if there are undetected “hidden roadblocks” in the way. These are the common but mistaken assumptions about your organization’s reality.
For example, what assumptions could your leadership team be making about defining the challenges your company faces, the capability of your organization, the cultural advancers and blockers, and which internal and external stakeholders might be resisting your strategies? These and other assumptions can be hard to see when we’re in our own systems and under pressure to achieve ambitious goals.
Once you uncover any “hidden roadblocks” that may be operating, you can begin the process of developing a solution that has chance of working in your unique organization.
