Scott’s in-depth knowledge and understanding of innovation comes from over 20 years of progressive leadership experience in the personal products industry with world class corporations: Johnson & Johnson Consumer Company, Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, and Warner-Lambert Company. Some of the household name products Scott has been part of launching and supporting include CoolMint Listerine® Antiseptic mouthrinse and successors, Purell® Hand Sanitizer, and Neosporin® ointment.
Scott has extensive experience in moving products to market, from concept generation through development and release. He is called upon to clearly explain the concepts, risks and rewards of complex technical opportunities to customers and business people, including the board room. Prime among Scott’s accomplishments was leading the development of innovation processes that cut product development time up to 50%, resulting in more than $100 million of savings over a 10 year period.
Scott’s accomplishments in innovation have been recognized with a dozen corporate innovation awards, including two top annual innovation awards from Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, and the Johnson & Johnson Excellence in Research Award. His reputation across the industry resulted in multiple appointments to lead Industry Sector committees. This included chairing an International Standards Organization (ISO) working group that developed new safety and testing standards for oral care products.
Scott’s corporate experience followed an academic career in oral biology where he achieved international recognition for his technical excellence. He obtained his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Michigan. He is a highly regarded speaker who has presented at associations and universities in the United States, Europe and Asia. Scott has been quoted in prominent media outlets including Chief Executive Magazine. He is also a member of the Society for Advancement of Consulting® (SAC), the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA), and the Snack Food Association (SFA).
